Let's take a look at the different reasons why cannabis is able to help with so many different illnesses.

There are many different stories of cannabis helping a plethora of different conditions. From things like autism to breast cancer. It seems amazing that one plant can have so many different medical and even non-medical uses. Although some people definitely claim that cannabis can help more than it actually can, there is definite evidence that it can help many different people.

Cannabis works for so many different health conditions because of the way chemical compounds in the herb interact with the human body.

The active chemicals in cannabis are called phytocannabinoids. Both tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the primary psychoactive in the herb, and cannabidiol (CBD) are examples of this. They are the active ingredients in cannabis.

When you inhale, ingest, or topically apply cannabis, phytocannabinoids interact with unique cell receptors in the human body. Aptly named "cannabinoid receptors", these landing sites are a part of a much larger system called the endocannabinoid system (ECS).Although this system isn't designed specifically to get you high, it's a happy coincidence that the active ingredients in cannabis work with a system in our brains.

The fact that cannabis interacts with the ECS is important. That is because the ECS is an important part of our bodies and it is important for things such as mood and sleep. It is also thought that a deficiency in the ECS leads to certain illnesses such as PTSD, autism, and MS. The fact that cannabis interacts with the EDS and the EDS is potentially responsible for these conditions is why cannabis is helpful for all of these different illnesses.
