My top 5 stoner songs
5. The Pixies - Where is my Mind
This song encompasses everything which a stoner song must, in order to really get you going. Trippy lyrics, great music, and to top it all off it's from one of the greatest films of all time, Fight Club. Don't worry, I won't spoil the ending now, but if you haven't seen the film yet, watch it now while you're stoned and at the very end get ready to ask where your mind is, because it will have just been blown, just as this song comes on!
4. Bill Withers - Lovely Day
One of the greatest feel good songs of all time, Lovely Day by Bill Withers, will have you feeling overwhelmingly postive regardless of whether you've just toked on a blunt or not. However, after a joint, this song ends up giving you an almighty hug, and is probably one of the best wake and bake songs ever written. We don't blame you if you put it on repeat, it definitely deserves it!
3. Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
Wait, that's an album isn't it? Yes it is. It's one of the greatest albums of all time... OF ALL TIME. It's also a fantastic depiction of all the things in life which can send you totally and utterly insane, and is a great album to blow your mind after smoking a j. If you've never heard it before, we highly recommend you get a strong sativa in hand, get some amazing headphones, and find the album. Those gosh darning Brits sure knew how to make a psychedellic album, didn't they?
2. The Beatles - Various
As a huge Beatles fan, it was too difficult to pick between certain songs, or even certain albums. However, I'd highly recommend two songs which are incredibly psychedelic and will help you chill out, or maybe question everything you know and believe. Within Without you is a beautiful song which attempts to capture Eastern religions view of life and death, and is found on Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. The second is Tomorrow Never Knows, and is trippy as balls. It includes the lads playing instruments backwards, and John Lennon singing some frankly terrifying lyrics. It's thought to describe an acid trip, and includes Tim Leary's advice of "turn off your mind and float downstream". A fantastic song and one which is only improved by how stoned you are. It's the final song on the album Revolver.
1. Tame Impala - The less I know the Better
Feature some of the greatest rifts of all time, and one of the most accurate videos of all time, this song is best summed up (as is often the case) by the comments section:
"Finally, a relevant song about getting cucked by a humanoid gorilla. I feel like my life has been validated."
If you like fantastic riffs, trippy real-to-life lyrics, and a great video, then don't hesitate, start blasting this song out right now. Trust me. You won't regret it.
